Mike Biddle has developed a solution to change that “ … developed a patented 30-step plastics recycling system … that takes less than a tenth of the energy required to make virgin plastic from crude oil. …” The process is sustainable, uses waste streams as a raw material, helps eliminate waste and reduces CO2 emissions … instead of oil.

One possible way to save energy is to paint your roof white ... or some other light color. This would keep buildings cooler and lessen the need for air conditioning. With all that us going on in the GREEN TECHNOLOGY space (new technology, alternative fuels, etc.) there are still PLENTY of ways to make an impact by saving energy. Not all are expensive and many are D-I-Y type projects.

Sanyo's Eneloop rechargeable battery is unique in that it keeps its charge (shelf life) longer than conventional batteries and in some ways mimics a regular battery - except it is recyclable. It also has a novel approach by using a basic AAA and AA format tht can fit inside a C and D size casing to allow one battery to be used in place of several sizes.

Reducing plastic waste is a benefit to everyone (except maybe the folks t hat make plastic packaging). It adds cost to the final goods and results in waste to throw away and is not yet recyclable.

I missed this one and would have like to check it out. What really caught my eye was a photo in the local newspaper (Phila Inquirer, Monday Sept 8th) that showed a person dressed as a "bag monster" covered in 700 plastic bags - the number the average person uses per year!
