Marriott and Constellation Partner on Energy Savings
Marriott partnered with Constellation Energy to manage “load response” for over 250 properties including those in the mid-Atlantic area and New England. This manages electricity usage in response to prices and / availability – while keeping guests comfortable.
In effect this is a“Load response is the reduction of electrical consumption in response to high wholesale electricity prices, system resource capacity needs or system reliability events. “
This ties in with Marriott’s sustainability programs. "… dramatically improve the energy efficiency of our hotels, saving an estimated 1.2 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually." 
Marriott will use Constellation’s VitruWattTM to “ … track electricity usage, bid directly into demand response markets and automate load curtailment strategies.”
