2011 Solar Decathlon in Washington DC–Sept 23–Oct 2, 2011

The US DOE is sponsoring the 2011 Solar Decathlon – where 20 colleges and universities bring houses they designed and built to DC to compete in an “energy-off”.

The winner will be determined by the team that “ … best blends affordability, consumer appeal, and design excellence with optimal energy production and maximum efficiency.”

Houses should be …. “affordable, attractive …”  and provide a healthy / comfortable living space and ideally generate more energy that it uses from wind and / or solar systems

Check it out if you are going to be in or near DC … and look for teams from around the world as well as the US.
