ClearEdge fuel cells will be deployed in pilot

Fuel cell pilot program is funded by DOE

U.S. Department of Energy is funding a pilot program to enable the deployment of fuel cells.

The grant will allow ClearEdge Power to install approximately 40 of its fuel cells in 10 different business locations, while the Pacific Northwest National Laboratory measures the cell performance over the next five years.  …ClearEdge Power Fuel Cells

…   “The ClearEdge5 system is compact – a little larger than a typical home’s refrigerator.

It is fueled by natural gas from existing, conventional pipelines.

Inside the fuel cell system, natural gas is chemically broken down into a hydrogen-rich gas that reacts with oxygen in the air to form energy, producing electricity with heat as a byproduct.

The electricity produced by the fuel cell is used to power the building.”   …
