Toyota Prius Plug In Hybrid

Toyota indicates that "... there’s still considerable battery development work to be done ... [in] the prototype HV models the additional MiMH capacity is gained by installing a second battery pack in the trunk area, ... Toyota is testing the Plug-in HV in Japan and is the first manufacturer to have a PHEV certified for use on public roads."
