Electric Car: Chevy Volt
Chevy Volt uses range extending technology to recharge the batteries as its goes. The concept extends to any type of hybrid vehicle. The Chevrolet Volt is charged by plugging it into a 110-volt outlet for six hours per day. A fully charged battery will enable the Volt to deliver 40 city miles of electric-only vehicle range. When the battery is fully depleted, a 1-liter, three-cylinder turbocharged engine creates electricity and replenishes the battery. This increases the fuel economy and range.
