Mercedes Benz BLUETEC Diesels

Diesel fueled cars are very popular in Europe and are getting more popular in the US.  Early diesels were often noisy, smelly, slow to accelerate and emitted lots of particulates.

Newer diesel technology allows diesel powered cars to be as quite as gasoline engines and possibly emit fewer emissions.  Helping to drive this are newer low sulfur diesel fuels "(less than 15 parts per million) that becomes available throughout the U.S. this fall."

Mercedes-Benz introduces technology for the "Cleanest Diesel in the World" - BLUETEC.

Mercedes-Benz BLUETEC TechnologyThe BLUETEC diesel is "a modular exhaust treatment technology".  The system reduces diesel emissions that are typically higher than gasoline emissions, and the modular design is flexible, allowing it to evolve over several iterations with a series of components. BLUETEC technology offers the future potential to meet the world's most stringent exhaust emissions standards and superior fuel economy — without compromising power.
